I get my engine selection from these because of their popularity. These search engines do not charge for listing a web page (at present). If you opt for any paid-for inclusions, that charge must be paid by you separately, although I don't advise doing so.

Most other search engines get their listings from Yahoo, Google and MSN, and so there is no real need to submit to those ones. I will advise you which others.

Regional variations of some search engines may also be used, e.g. Google UK can be used if your website is hosted in UK.

Remember, I cannot guarantee that you will get top placement in any particular search engine like Google or Yahoo!.  That is dependent on the preference of each search engine.

It is also important to know that search engines change ownership regularly, as well as their terms of acceptance of submissions. An engine might also disappear and another appear suddenly.  Some of these listed are owned by others that are shown, e.g. Altavista is owned by Yahoo!  In fact, Yahoo! owns several search engines. I try to keep up to date, and my list is forever changing. If, in the course of optimisation of a page, one or more  search engines listed are changed, I reserve the right to use alternatives as I see fit.

Remember, I don't necessarily submit your pages to all search engines listed here, but your web pages after optimisation should appear top 10 of some of them. Your web traffic should increase dramatically as a result.
